Hi there! We are Douglas and Gary, the father/son creators of Splash Guppie
We started Splash Guppie because there was no solution for a simple problem often found at your hose bibb. We both love caring for and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces for our families to enjoy. But, what we don’t like is getting soaked when we just wanted to quickly water a few plants before going to work, or grocery shopping, or picking up kids from school.
Sometimes a hose bibb just leaks, but even more challenging are hose backflow prevention devices. There attachments are becoming more common and often required in some cities. The backflow preventer is an important safety device and something anyone should have on their hose bibb. The challenge is when pressure is retained in the hose these devices spray all over the place.
You shouldn’t have to change your outfit to water your plants. After getting wet too many times, Gary came up with the idea for Splash Guppie. Doug brought it to life in what you see today.
As a retired firefighter and mechanical engineer combo we set out in creating our first real business. We worked through many iterations on the design finding the right blend for easy of use and universal application. Now we have something that should keep you dry and also keep you safe by maintaining your backflow preventer.
We now have 3 issued patents on this device and continue to innovate to make this more useful and more applicable in the years to come.
